Well with no blogging going on means not a whole alot of anything happening. the only real thing to report was last weekends first 5.5 ride of the year with t-bender. but other then that not a much going on, except relentless peer presure from certain indiviauls trying to get me to do the Birkie this weekend. Well sorry gents not going to happen, almost said what the hell earlier in the week but just don't feel like it. So i will make a promise for next year to do Babger State and get a better wave position and be set to race it. Hope thats good enough.

Other news is that we are going to get snow tonight and tomorrow which is not sitting well with me or any cyclist in the area because the roads have been pretty good. Yes i know that its still winter but i still want to bitch. Have a good weekend.

Venting time:

went skiing last night to a local madison area that will be nameless and it totally sucked on half of the trails. they buy a new groomer for this and its like trying to ski on speed bumps, it sucked hard yeah hard. Sort of pissed.

Other than that it was a good two hour ski.

Thursday me and lady are going down to my old stomping gounds and doing a little boarding and xc skiing. Dad talked us into it when he said free tickets, i'm up for free anything. Other news is that we found out that our dog might be a big wimp. she saw her sister this weekend and they were playing and was trying to be all that and got scared really easily, sort of funny. Chicago proposes new Olympic cycling venues

Two Wisconsin cities, Madison and Mt. Horeb, are the newly proposed road cycling and mountain biking venues for the Chicago 2016 Olympic Games bid expected to be submitted to the International Olympic Committee on February 12 according to the Chicago Tribune. The International Cycling Union (UCI) had previously advised those preparing the bid that their first choices for courses were too flat.

In the revised proposal presented at a press conference on Friday, Madison would host the road and time trial courses with the road race consisting of three loops within the city and five outside of it near Blue Mound. The time trial would stay within Madison, and Mt. Horeb's Tyrol Basin ski area would host the mountain bike events. Madison would serve as the Olympic outdoor cycling center, featuring an Olympic village for approximately 320 cyclists at some University of Wisconsin dormitories expected to be built by 2014.

The announcement confirmed rumors from December that the courses would be relocated to an area near Madison. Previously both the road and mountain bike courses were proposed for the host city of Chicago.

Madison and its surrounding comprise a popular cycling area. According to US Census data cited by the Tribune, Madison has the highest number of bicycle commuters per capita for any US city with more than 100,000 workers.

UCI President Pat McQuaid had not yet received formal notification of the proposed course changes, but said that having cycling venues outside of the host city would not be a negative when evaluating the bid. "Sites always are spread out," McQuaid said. "In China, the equestrian (Hong Kong) and sailing (Qingdao) were both far outside Beijing. The most important thing is to have a good course that gives a good race for television and promotes our sport in the region and the area."

The International Olympic Committee will choose the city to host the 2016 Olympic Games on October 2. Chicago is competing with Tokyo, Madrid and Rio de Janeiro for the privilege of hosting.

This weekend was the Bike swap in Madison. I gave all my stuff to JLS becasue i coundn't get there that early and he sold most of it right off the bat, which was nice. So made some money there. It seemed like not alot of people were moving anything and people were hagguling over the price of stuff like crazy. For example: brand new crank set for $10 and the guy wanted only to pay $8 for it and it was like its only two bucks man. Other then that not too much went on. Did a 4 hour trainer ride saturday.

Sunday went to nordic to go ski and it was amazing. I have never been there to ski before only to run and hike but it was really nice. Great day with the sun out for a little bit and mild temps it was a great day.

Whats in store for this week: Really cold temps, more trainer time, and thats about it. My life is super exciting right now.

So its been two weeks since i skied. Not to happy about that but getting a decent amount of riding in other wise. currently its 32 degrees and raining which does not help the fact that i really want to ski. Anyways away from the skiing rant build 1 training is going really well. Had a good long ride today and the motivation is so for not a problem on those over 3 hour trainer rides.

With some other news we got our puppy this week. I drove down to the P's to pick her up.

Josie is my name, don't wear it out.

Finding out that owning a 7 week old dog is very time consuming. with the early morning trips outside and the constant attention, its like having a kid but they don't want a car when they get older. I'm sure i will have tons of updates with her in them.

My view

While on the trainer i watched Warren Miller's IMPACT, it really got me in the mood to go snowboarding but really out west. But there is only one problem with going out west right now, MONEY. Until i get that so called MONEY, the mountains might have to wait. Well its snowing again, which is great, but the only problem is the ski trails. I haven't skied on trails that that were packed and groomed for awhile. they can't keep up with grooming so i think the city just stopped for now. It reminds me when t_bender and i went out to Montana a while ago when they got a crap load of snow when we got there and every thing seemed to be closed because of all the snow and the avalanche warnings. well anyways while i ride the trainer and dream of groomed trails have a good Christmas.

Let see all i have done lately is shovel snow. That can be said for almost everyone in the midwest. I have been riding the trainer a decent amount especially yesterday, 3' 15". Other then that i rode the old fisher with studded snow tires on one of the trails in Oregon and had some fun. It was upper cold at the time but still fun. Got alot of big plans for this week; painting, skiing, riding, watching movies. Yes i know thats alot to do in one week but i will try to do my best.

So this weekend Maggie and i went down to p-ville to go to one of our good friends graduation party at the Elks Lodge.
Before we went and started playing flippy cup we stopped by Tim, Momentum Bikes, at the shop to see what was up. Tims doing good and he has been re-organizing the shop and it looks good. Then took a little detour to badger brothers coffee for a latte, did you know they put the Latte in Platteville!!
Well from there we headed to Suzi's house to drop the car off and chill with her for a while. Then we went down to the party.

This was my first game of flippy cup and i wasn't to bad at it. Not sure how much longer i could have gone but it was good while it lasted. We didn't end up leaving there to go down town until 11. Then from there it was the usual platteville bar scene.

Saw this wondering through the bar. Imagine that coming at you through the woods.
So after doing the old college drinking act we came home to rain, wonderful rain. Now all the snow should be gone by tomorrow and make skiing awesome this week. You know whats crazy is that it was in the 40s today and then tomorrow they are saying its going to be a high of 10 or so what the F***. OOHhh well its sort of a repeat of last year. Hope everyones weekend was just as crazy as mine.

First day on the xc skis and it hurt. I am so out of shape for skiing but waht do you expect for not doing it in 10 months. Not to much going on just riding the trainer. I did get my new cyclops trainer this week and so far i like it alot. Haven't done intervals on it or really given it hell yet but i really like it, check it out

	I was surprised to find Elver groomed. Although there were leaves and a few sticks the skiing was surprisingly good. Bring rock skis for sure, but definitely worth the trip, at least in the west side trees.

I think it might be a ski day saturday or sunday if we get just a little more tomorrow because i don't have rock skis.

Back to the grind

well back to work today after a great long weekend. Started off by driving to Ohio to see the famliy and ate way to much. chilled down there friday and drove back to the P's (lake villa) saturday. Maggie and i went to McDonald woods for a nice run sunday morning before we went and saw more family.

The real story was driving back to Oregon on sunday night in the snow. It seemed like Whitewater Kettel area got the most snow and was the worst driving. And of course i have these nice snow tires and wheels sitting in my garage and not on the car, so that made it a little interesting. got home ok and put the winter wheels on right away.

Went to go find a chrismas tree farm near us but missed it by 15mins which sucked but we are going to go and support our local boy scouts to night by buying one from them.

Other then that starting the training season this week, which i have been looking forward to. Also can't wait to start skiing, with how the weather is going we could almost ski this weekend. Check out Madnorski.org for trail conditions.

End of the season......Finally

I have been hearing end of the season finally from alot of people. Only bad thing is now its trainer time but at least i have skiing to look forward to. Anyways sunday at WI state cross i sucked, had some chest problems but had fun, Lyle got the big silver medal for state nice job. Marko just walked away from us right from the start, i think there was a gap before the first corner. The run up sucked, it was like putting mud on ice and trying to run up hill on it. The course was fast and fun. Any ways this week i am taking off the bike, might go out on my new signle speed to tool around but other then that its recover and get my head in the game for trainer work.

Lyle in the wet and fast sand and taking the big W. Nice job Lyle. I ended up 2nd mostly cause Jordan rolled his rear tire three times, sorry man.

Well this last weekend worked out pretty well for doing a race at the last minute in the freezing cold.

I have a good feeling that this weekend will be as cold and more muddy.

Little motivation on the run up that totally sucked but was a good change. It just took a toll on my for sundays race.

This last weekend i race in the land of the good people and did ok, 10th and 11th. i really like that spot i think cause the last two years i have been in that placing alot. Anyways had a good time and ready for a low key race this weekend in my neighborhood. Can't figure out what i want to do on saturday, mtb or ride the state train on my CX. time will tell

Well this last weekend was one of my better skills cross race this year. Kyle got the big W, nice job and Jordan also looked good wearing Rachel's clothes. I ended up 6th in between Lyle and Jordan in no mans land, seems like i end up there alot. well double up this weekend should be fun.

Blockhouse

Blockhouse was this weekend and i had a really good time. Not a whole lot of people there but there was two other things going on this weekend, WCA Cross and 12 hours of John Muir. Well i went there just to ride and have a good time. On the parade lap i was with the lead group and just sitting there and enjoying the ride and how i was feeling pretty good until middle of the 1st real lap and crasehed three times in a row sitting 5th and dropped to who nows were. It took a long time till i could bend both of my knees so i lost alot of time there. then i got into the mind set of lets just finish ride and have fun. well i started to gain on some people so my racing personality kick started and i ended up 7th not bad. Only thing that sucked is that the first time in 7 years they didn't pay 10 deep only 5, so once again i was out of the money and that ment no beer money for the night out on the town.

That night we went to the pint in p-ville and then went and hung out with the newly wedds, pud and amber, and then go down town. Fun was had by all. Sorry Carlos for the mess pud made!!!

Well its TdC this weekend and the last WORS race, my second mtb race this year.

Bicycling was front and center Monday evening at the funeral of Gregg Bednorski.

There were pictures of a muddy Bednorski after mountain- and road-bike races. There was a large bouquet of flowers from the Madison-based Great Velo Cycling Club, a team on which Bednorski rode for years, and one of his bicycles was placed at the front of the room at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home in Wausau.

Bednorski died participating in the sport he loved after crashing Thursday night into a parked car on Highway KK, not far from this town of Mosinee home.

His death sent shockwaves through the biking community because Bednorski was among the state's top mountain- and road-bike racers. He was known as a driven, dogged competitor.

People talked Monday about his zest for life, his willingness to share his knowledge and zeal and, most of all, his overriding love for his wife, Tammy, and his children, Isabelle and Adam.

"He was a wonderful father," said Bednorski's mother, Jean Kluball, 69, of Tomahawk.

Bednorski was only 41 years old, Kluball said, "but he lived a fuller life than most. Ever since he was a little kid, he never sat. ... He didn't waste a minute."

Ted Hayes, 47, of the town of Mosinee, was Bednorski's neighbor, and he spent time with Bednorski on hunting trips.

"Talk was always about family," Hayes said. "And raising kids. His kids were my kids, and my kids were his kids."

Bednorski always was quick to lend a hand, using his four-wheeler to clear out Hayes' driveway in the winter or to drop off some freshly-caught fish.

Like with many others, the bond of friendship between Bednorski and Jim Frame, 37, of Weston was forged riding bikes together. Bednorski helped Frame get started as a bike racer.

Bednorski "had a quiet confidence. He was comfortable and confident in his abilities," Frame said. "I think he wanted the competition. He wanted to be pushed."

Hayes wasn't surprised to see hundreds of people come to pay their respects to Bednorski and his family.

"Gregg touched a lot of people in a lot of different activities," he said.

Wisport Rumble

Yes, some of on the team did a Wisport race this last saturday, Jason S., Frankie, Dan, Tim, Scottie, and myself. It was alot of fun because all we wanted to do is sort of beat up on the group and thats what we did. And with really no pressure of doing good made it easier.

Great part about this pic is that dan got 2nd, he much have been really happy.

I had a little problem at the end of the last lap my valve extender on my rear wheel came loose so i lost about half the air pressure in my rear tire but still have able to get 8th, not bad.

Jason and i rode back to my house in Oregon and had 35 miles of head wind. Was a good day in all.

This weekend i am heading down to Platteville to be in one of my good friends weddings Saturday and going to try to do some MTB riding at the farm to get ready for Blockhouse in a couple of weeks, want to do better then 4th.

Superweek report:

Seeing how superweek ended two weeks ago this report is super old but here it goes. All my results were in the mid 50s out of around 150 staring riders. So that was better then last year and the crits felt faster then last year but i felt stronger so that was good. My last SW race was Downers Ave. and my head was totally not in it so ended up dropping out most of the way through it. So overall it was good.

Since then i haven't raced. I took last week as a recover and easy week. Trying to get my head back into the groove and ready for Downers Grove next weekend. Which i am really looking forward to. The team has been racing alot and had soon really good results at Elgin last sunday, congrats Frankie.

The best is the rider in the back right, his face says it all. Good news is that dave got back on and finished 12th.

I may look fast but not really. Thought the time was pretty good for as much wind we had that day but i got smoked. So i have gotten smoked in every type of weather. Thinking of selling the TT bike but only thing i am not really wanting to because i just spent money to get fitted on it. But does any one want to buy a set of HED TT wheels? Let me know if you are.

This monday morning i got pulled over by the cops for blowing through a stop sign with no cars to be seen at 6 in the morning.
Had a good B-Day and road 100+ miles yesterday and had a good day with JLS.

Well the Memorial Day Weekend Iowa races went good. For the first time as a 1,2 i finished and placed in Snake Alley. I got 29th, which isn't the best result but i started in the back and had to fight my way to the top. I wonder what i could have done if i started in the front. DA finished right behind me picking up 30th. Sunday at Melon city i felt like crap, put out a little more at the snake then i thought, and DA got 15th. Monday at Quad Cities i had a blast didn't finish great but had a good time.
The whole weekend we sort of hung out with Punk Rock Racing and those girls are pretty cool, and good racers. Also thanks to Jane and her parents and sister for having us staying at their house Saturday night.
Anyways weekend was good and fun, this weekend just State TT, which i will get my ass kicked by some 3's i have never seen, and a crit sunday. Might be my fist TT in the rain.

Off to the races

Well this weekend is memorial day and that means Iowa races. So the road race that should have been today was canceled so i have to do snake alley this year, which is fine just some times it can suck. Then it is off to two more crits. Monday should be fun at Quad cities cause i have not done that race since i was a junior in 99.
Other then racing i have been taking it easy all week to keep some energy for this weekend. Tuesday night crit went good and that was my one and only hard day. This year i don't know what time of the year it is because i think i used to know what time of the year because of school but now not being in school anymore changes things.
Next weekend is State TT all ready and i need to do some more rides on the TT bike and see how things are. My new position is awesome just need some quality time on it.

Money Pit?

Well this is a little off the subject of cycling, but thats ok.
So my house might start being a money pit. The garage door cable broke the other day and now the door sits all crocked and looks like some white trash house. Should be getting fixed here soon.
On another note, racing is going good and every race getting a little stronger. The first practice crit happened this tuesday in mad town and went really good. Going to a crit this weekend and doing nothing on sunday and that should be awesome. This year is all ready going really fast, hope i can hang on.

Lately i have been really boring. Just go to work, ride, eat, sleep. My fitness is starting to come around but things feel different this year and i think it might be just not in school at got all those crazy trainer hours like i did last year. I know what it feels like to be in the real world. No worries those, i know things will come around. Going up to Whitnall Park tomorrow, which i all ways seem to do good in so lets cross our fingers. The rest of the team is down in Iowa City doing some races down there. Have fun guys, your going to miss alot of fun on Sunday ridding in the 44 Degrees and rain. I am going to try to make this posting on my blog a regular thing.

Sping is here, but winter is still kicking our ass

So the last couple of weeks i have been able to:
-Ride to work
-Ride and train outside with out wearing to much
-Be able to be outside with out freezing something off
-Finally able to see my grass for the first time.

But tonight into tomorrow they are saying 4-7", which is not making to happy. Its going to make riding outside this weekend not really happen. Can't wait for Hillsboro next weekend, mostly for two reasons 1) i want to race really bad 2) get to put my new wheels on and ride them.

The trip was alot of fun and got crazy sun burnt but its good to be back in WI and even got to shovel a little bit of snow this morning. Rode about 27 hours or so in a week and felt really good. Now all we need is it to get warmer here so we can ride outside. Until then happy trainer time and see ya out there when the temp get in the upper thirties/low forties.

It finally happened. I have reached the point were i can say with a 100% certainty that i am sick and HATE the trainer. I hit the wall hard this afternoon and need to re think next year training.
On a lighter note i will be in Chicago all this week for GD&T classes, and who ever can tell me what that is wins a prize. Then next Saturday myself and Jason Svaldi go down to AZ for a wonderful week of riding and tequila drinking, j/k. We might not come back! Because the Midwest this winter has really sucked, sucked big.
Other then my complaining everything is same old same old. As in wish i could be some where warm and be getting paid to ride my bike.

Not having a bike to ride this week, getting a new paint job, is a little weird but skiing is on the agenda for tomorrow and moving will keep me busy this weekend.

New team paint job on our new Kliens. Mine will be a little different but will look the same. It will be sweet that we are going to be riding the same shit.

Things I Have Been Doing

Just thought i would throw this in here and show how warm it was when i started posting today. Nice and balmy, can't wait to go to AZ in Feb. Only thing is when i go ski the temp really doesn't matter, i warm up eventually.

Here is what my view for long hours have looked like. Yes it does look like it sucks.

The cross bike i picked up for Maggie last weekend at the bike swap. The fork is laying on the floor behind the stand. I got the frame set for alot cheaper then i could have just got the frame. Put some sweet Carbon Force cranks on it for her and have Ultegra 10spd for it also. Just need some little things to get it all together.

I've joined the club. Before last weekend I haven't been on two planks for over 8 years and it was a rough day. My form is getting there but every time is a new learning experience. Its great when i can go out and ski and split my indoor riding up.

Our house buying experience has been interesting but what is more interesting we close on the house we wanted at the end of the month. Other then that i can't wait to get out of my base period and everyone who knows what i am talking about agrees.

Other then that my holidays were good, did alot of driving but thats what it is all about. Other then working and riding the trainer its been going good. I have decided that snowboarding is not satisfying my winter sport addiction, so am in the process of getting some cross country skis. Its a little late in the season to get into this new sport but the trainer is starting to get to me and i need something before i start doing intervals and making my rides more fun.

Plans for this weekend, going up to Green Bay to D. Kay's wedding reception. I think i might not be able to ride next day, you know how those wedding receptions are.

Winter is Coming

With probaly my last ride outside till march when i go some where to ride or it gets warm enough, and snow coming with local snowboarding spots making snow and getting some runs open, i think winter is here.
Since my last post, which was my last race of the year, i took two weeks off and started pumping iron. I watched a cross race, which hasn't happened in a while, I also did some good base mile rides with teammates. But this week it has been trainer time and the way it looks it not going to get any better outside.
With other news Maggie and i have been spending alot of time looking at houses, cause we really don't want to pay rent anymore. Finding some good stuff, some a little over our budget and some right there.
Thanksgiving was good down in Dickeyville, WI at Maggie's P's house and we went hunting thrusday and friday. Didn't get anything but at least we saw some deer, not like past years of seeing nothing for two days. I'm not sure if i am the hunting kind of person because i don't have any patience when it comes to sitting in a cold stand for hours.

Well this weekend was a double Cross race. Haven't done a double weekend in a long time. Felt really good on Saturday and ended up 5th. Sunday was a little of a different story, first half of the race i was in a really good group then crashed and got gaped off them, then popped really bad with 3 laps to go and just kept pushing myself so Dan Ajer wouldn't beat me. Bu t it was an awesome racing weekend and it was the real first time for me that it felt like fall.

Well my season is pretty much over and that was my last race of the year. Taking two weeks off to just cross train and get motivated for the trainer, a very long trainer season this year i think. But i am looking forward to drinking some beer and watching everyone at Sun Prairies race in a couple of weeks.

My first CX race of the year went ok. I went hard the first lap to try to stay with the main group and sort of popped on the second lap. Then i recovered a little and started to drill it again but then my back crapped up and i stared going backwards. Overall i got 10th which isn't that bad but not supper good. Anyways the course was awesome and i had a blast.

Blockhouse went good this year. I ended up 4th after leading for a little while on the parade lap and a group of us just started drilling it and opened up a nice little gap really fast. After moving around in the top four i stayed forth for most of the race and the leaders had a pretty good gap on me, mostly cause i don't ride single track very well. 5th place was like 4 min behind me so at the end i just rode and took it a little easier. It really hurt this year, alot more the last year, but i think its because i only rode the course once before the race. Anyways next weekend is the last WORS race and then TDC (tour de cheese) then maybe a little cross, if i feel like drilling it for an hour.

So nothing really important for this post except for me breaking my rear hub almost all the way across. I think i started the crackage last night when i felt a pop that was not your usual chain jump or anything else. But then when i was riding with Ajer at Blackhawk tonight it did it to me again and then i noticed that i could pedal forward with my wheel not moving forward. then Ajer saw my hub and was like well there goes our ride. So hopefully i can get a new rear wheel before Saturday.

Blockhouse Roll Course Preview

So i rode the Hirsh Farm today for the first time this year, thought it might be good to ride it so I know the course a little. It was awesome!!! Still a little wet from the rain yesterday but it should dry out by the weekend. They put in some new single track sections that will slow you down a little bit but you can still roll it pretty good.
I rode one lap with TIM and then a parade and then i went on a hot lap and think i did it about an 50min or so, if i would have pressed start timer then i could be sure. Well hope i see alot of people at the race on saturday, stop by the momentum bikes tent and say hi.

Fall is close to be here and i can't wait because fall is one of my favorite seasons and it brings me into my short yet intense MTB season and it sort of started with Cheq. but it will really kick in with Blockhouse Roll in Platteville, WI next weekend. The only problem is that i have had a head cold or allergy thing going on the last 4 days and have been off the bike for 3 days and really want to get things going. Planning on going for a long Cross ride with Jason tomorrow which will be fun and see how far we can go on the Military ridge state trail.

This morning me and maggie went to the farmers market at the capital, first we had to stop by Anocra Coffee on Monroe street to get my caffeine fix for the morning, which only has some of the best coffee I have had. We picked up some really good jam and went to the open house at work.

To let everyone know i posted my Gateway Cup stuff on our teams new blog; gdvc.blogspot.com, Check it out. Anyways i did Cheq. this weekend and the fist 25 miles was my best race yet and was sitting at least top 100 or better. Was rolling really good and then i hit a rock and could hear and feel my rim hit the rock and the thought that i just got a pinch flat in the back of my head, sure enough i got one. It took quit a long time for me to get back rolling because my CO2 didn't work my friends CO2 didn't work but i finally got stuff rolling again and had to make up alot of time. Sure enough about less then a mile from the finish i got another flat, so i ran my ass off to the finish and almost passed out. OOOHHH well still a good race and a perfect day. Maggie had an awesome time for her first time, 3 hrs 48 min. Not bad for a rookie.

On the schedule for the next couple of months is blockhouse roll in P-ville next weekend, then the last wors race and can't wait for TOC (tour de cheese) and then maybe some cross races.

Maggie was going to race but decided not to just because of the rain and it being a little slippery. On a better note its the last WCA race next weekend, which should be a good time.

The race started off some what hard. I got into four different breaks before on stuck, the fourth finally stuck. So needless to say i was a little tired when i finally got into one. We had three GDVC people in the break so that ment we had to do most of the work. Tim attacked with three laps to go and i made everyone that wasn't a GDVC bring them back. On the last lap just before the last turn i attacked and just put my head down for about 400m and got taken at the line. But it was a really fast race and the team did a good job.

Next week is state crit. It should be a good shoot out with all the big teams.

The third overall might look weird with the placing of three races but not everyone did all three races.
So the weekend was really fun, a little worn out but a good time. The TT on friday was awesome but i forgot my check book and cash so had to wait for the p's to come and i ended up starting almost a hour and a half later then i wanted to. The new bike was solid and was one of the best TT i have done in a long time, my time did not show how good i felt.
Kyle J and myself got into a break saturday in the crit and was in that break for 45 min. The race remined me of snake alley with out the really big climb but no place to really rest.
Saturday Jordan and Dan went off the front and i just sat in watching Crater and Kyle and went with a couple of attacks but nothing really happened. I tried to take a flyer but Kip got on my wheel right away both of the times. We had an awesome GDVC train at the end for me and i think i went a little to early but came around jason and ended up getting 5th in the field.
All and all a good weekend, sorry to hear about JLS's bad luck yesterday and braking his helment but not from racing.
Throwing around going to proctor next weekend but not sure yet.

So Grafton was as fast as a Superweek race and it was single file for hard 90 min.
Sunday i rode to platteville from verona and it was an awesome route but really hurt becasue i didn't get home from grafton till about 1 and then i was on the bike at 6 the next morning. Anyways sorry for the shot post but really busy with this being a grown up and working stuff.

The State RR on Saturday went like it did every year it was hard and we climbed that hill to many times. The only difference this year is i finished, i got around 14th or 15th. A break went off really early in the race and GDVC went to the front but we could not do 40mph to bring them back. Other then that there were a couple of breaks that didn't stick and i just rode to the finish.

Sundays TT was really fun and that course if sweet. The only problem is that i was really tired from Saturday so my watts were low and my time was ok. Don't know how i didn't stay around for hte finish. Other than that it was a good weekend. It was good to be back at my parents for a little while.

Next weekend........Grafton, and riding to Platteville for G party.

So i did a WORS race this weekend in Wausau at 9-mile. It rained going up there on saturday and rained coming home. We got up there and pre-rode the course and it was pretty much was a cake wake, nothing really hard. Race went good, it started raining on my 3rd lap so that sucked cause the last two laps were sloppy. Maggie ended up winning here age group and so did Fatla. Kyle got 8 in his age and i got 10th in mine. My finish was pretty good for crashing on my head and losing alot of time. Anyways it was alot of fun and the girls kicked some butt.

Burlington Iowa Road Race

My memorial day weekend racing in IA started and finished in Burlington. This year i only felt like doing the road race on friday afternoon, and because i had to get some more stuff in platteville.
Any ways the race went good, it was a hell of alot faster then last year but mostly because the 3's weren't with us, so the field size was smaller but alot faster.
I didn't get into any breaks or anything really exciting just that i did bridge up to a couple of breaks but they were brought back with in minutes. We averaged 27mph and did 80 miles in about 3 hours. A break did stick with about 10-15 miles from the finish but there was no organization to bring it back, i did go to the front and gave it my all but it didn't do much. The field sprint was crazy and unorganized but safe with no crashes.
So the weekend has been going good. Me and JLS went out for a 4.5 hour ride yesterday and i am hoping to get Maggie on the MTB this afternoon when she gets home from work.
Other than that no road racing next week but i am doing a WORS race in Wausau, so that should be fun.

Sorry about not having a post for well like two weeks. Alot has happened in the last two weeks. Lets see i gradumunated from college and moved to Verona with this really hot chick. Did some racing, got my ass a little kicked, got a front wheel messed, that last one is a long story.

Some how i was able to ride a front wheel with five spokes that were taken out by another guys bike and didn't taco it.

Any ways heading down to IA this weekend to have some fun in a really big field. Hey everyone it will be my first practice crit of the year tomorrow night, lets cross our fingers for no crashes or idiots.

The title of this says it all, there was alot of wind for both races saturday and sunday. Saturday at Baraboo was sweet cause i finally got into the break i was looking for but the break quickly became the main field because everyone else dropped out. Being in the break wasn't really hard it was just bridging up to the break that almost killed me. Sat in and tried to stay on R. Baumann's wheel when he started to sprint at 250m to go but didn't have enough juice so ended up 6th.

Sunday at Neenah's crit was alot slower than i thought it was going to be but the break i heard was going good. Just worked for the team and blocked at the end for D. Kay and ended up 3rd in the field sprint and 7th overall.

Sort of glad that this week is my easy week and not doing any races this weekend, with this little thing called Graduation on Saturday and moving shit on Sunday.

The last four days have been really crazy. Thursday night i had an interview and Friday morning i went and looked at a townhome in Verona, then went to another interview, which i think i am going ot get the job. Drove back to the P's house went for like a 70 mile ride, then raced at whitnall Saturday.
Whinall's course i have always like, i think it is because its a crit with climbing. I got into 3 different breaks with in the first 20 min. but nothing was staying away. I did do alot of work at the front bring stuff back. The finish was a massive field sprint which GDVC really didn't set up well for D Kay but he still ended up with 3rd and i got 4th, which by the way is the best placing i have gotten in a P1,2 race so far.
I came back to P-ville and just crashed. Sunday got up and laid around till about ten and went for a good long ride to get my tan going. I ended up with the wind to my back and ended up doing 100 miles at a good tempo.
Anyways didn't get any good pics of this weekend they are all on the old mans camera.
One more thing, JLS won the 4,5s race Saturday and is going to be a 3 this week so congrats and now the fun starts.

Rounding the Corner at Hight Velocity

The day started off by going to look at a house in Midvale Hieghts, which made the morning a little crazy.
The wind picked up as the day went on and really sucked by the time the P1,2s went off. With in the first 10min of the start a break formed and I tried to hang with them but i poped and just coundn't do it. So i dropped back to the field and the break went out for about 1min up and then a second break formed and i tried to bridge that but the field caught me.
So at the end i got 6/7 in the field sprint but i have no idea what my overall was. Also Jordan is fast this year.
Anyways i felt good but just coundn't hold with a group. Easy week this week and hope for some good results this weekend.

Race Report:

Day started off with running a little late with Kalstrup and running out of gas 3 miles before Plymonth, so we missed his masters race.
Got there with wet and cold weather, every time i have done this race it has been wet and cold.
Had about 20-25 riders in P1,2 and it was fast off the get go. A break formed with 4 riders, GDVC member in (Tim Clark). I gaped the field and pasted TC after he blew. Me and a Nature Valley guy were by ourselves for 15-20min. Field came back together and mass sprint at the end. All went well got 6th and felt good for the 1st race of the year.
No crashes (except a PCW guy running into D Kay and pissing him off, on the bright side PCW ruined his wheel.)

Went out for a ride the last two days and i felt like it was my first ride, with 100% humidity breathing was sort of hard. My legs and back are paying for the remodeling from friday at my p's house.
I rode a huge 9 hours this week, compared to my 22 last week. The easy week was good for me but school wasn't as easy and this week is going to suck also.

The Begining of NC

Well i have been in NC since last friday, drove down thursday night. The riding has been amazing, sixty/seventy degree days and four to six hour rides. What else could you ask for.
Maybe staying with people that didn't stink like ass. Staab has been ripping ass all week so far and it is getting worse as the week goes on. Staab's new name is fatty mick fat fat, and all me and Casey M. do is rip on him the whole day and tell him to get moving or we will cut some bacon off his back, its awesome.
I will have some pics up this weekend when i get back into to town.
So far 5 days 24 hours 400 miles.

Getting ready

so yesterday i spent most of the afternoon getting my Madone all ready for NC, which is coming up this week. I decided to ride the bike over the week so my ass can get used to the extremly hard saddle i have on it, but remember its light. I also weighted my bike afterwards, it was a nice 18lbs with the heavier cranks.
I have been gettting in some good riding hours the last few weeks, but this week i sort of caught a head cold so its been rough doing 4+ hour rides when you can't breath through your nose.
A side note i saw this on pez and thought it was an awesome two in one combo.

You can ride and drink all in one. So you can put in and burn cal. at the same time.

Other than that, thats all i got. I will try to update before we leave on thursday but other than that i will post a whole lot of stuff when i get back.

This leaves the Discovery Channel Professional Cycling Team in a somewhat tenuous position, as 15 million dollars to fund arguably one of the biggest budget teams on the ProTour ain't quite pocket change. In a statement, Discovery said it was proud to sponsor the team for three seasons, but "we have decided to aggressively shift our focus and resources to support our core business goals and objectives."It's probably pretty easy to find a huge sponsor like the one Tailwind Sports needs in the current cycling climate - not only in terms of doping and a horribly tarnished image, but what of the Grand Tours deciding seemingly randomly who they want in their races? So I've got 15 million - how do I know my company's name won't be smeared all over the presses as a team of dopers, and if they're not, will my team even get into the Tour de France? Or if I have a 'suspected' rider who is a huge favorite to win the whole damn thing, will he even be allowed to start?
Sounds like a flaming good idea to me.

Just to let everyone know that this post has nothing to do with coffee just felt like naming it that. I don't have that much to say just i have a friend that just graduated and has a good engineering job and all he talks about is how much work is getting to him and how he keeps doing the same thing every day. Well i told him thats what could happen when you get out of school.
I was thinking maybe he should find something that will get his mind off of what ever he is thinkin, that makes sense to me. Maybe he can ride his bike really fast so the pain will over come the thinkin. STOP THINKIN IT HURTS BRAINS.

Got to the island and did what every group of early 20 year olds do, drink some wine. After all that we went on a nice hike along the lake and had a really good time.

Well i made the 18.5 hour drive from Dillion, CO to my parents house in Lake Villa, IL on friday into early saturday morning. Then on sunday i drove from there back to 3 hours west to Platteville, WI and finally home. What did i do the first thing i got home? Well get on my bike and ride 3 hours and did my 4 min test again because i was a numbnut at Kalstrups house and only did 3 min instead of 4. In the process it totally sucked and i felt like i was going to puke, from what GDVC coach John Willson says ride till you puke.

Other then that it is good to be home but i come home to snow and some one parked in my parking spot, i hate that.

Well on Friday we drove from Chicago to North Platte NA, that was a fun 12 hours of driving. Then on Saturday morning we left North Platte and got to Keystone around 2:30 mountian time. Man does the traffic suck going west of denver to the mountians. Also the blowing snow and stupid people were very high today. Any ways our condo is huge, bigger and nicer then my apartment in P-ville. Any ways i will be putting more on during this week.

This new years was different then some of the last ones. The biggest is that i wasn't in a smokey bar that are full of drunk people. Me and Mag, Kyle, and Fatla went to our friends house for a good time. I started off the night being pissed off at the Bears because they totaly f-ed up the end of the season and they shouldn't be going to the play offs, i said my peace. Any ways i had a good and none drunk new years and had a really good time.
Some how when we were playing quarters i spilled my entire cup of pop into my lap and had a nice wet/sticky pants all night.

All and all had a good night and 2007 looks like its going to be a good year.

So last week me, mag and some of our friends had a wine night and played a little Wii, when i say a little Wii i mean 5.5 hours. The reason i am posting this a week late is because i finally put the pics of the night on my computer. It was a good time and we had a guys vs. girls when playing bowling, and the guys dominated by 10 pnts, and i had a turkey in the tenth frame. Any ways we drank way to much wine for a night that was in the middle of finals week.

Whats new?
Well i have finals this week and i think the only good thing is that i had two of them last week so i only have three finals during finals week, that means some good riding. Other then that i am starting to look for a job after May, i think i am starting a little early but i really have nothing else to do, when i am not on the bike or sleeping.
Anyways can't wait to go to Keystone, CO in a week in a half to do some boarding. i really would like to get out and get my feet wet again but seeing how it has been in the upper 40s for two weeks i am sure the snow is awesome. So that means i am going to have to hope my legs remember what to do when i get off the lift.
Other then that i really have nothing else exept Tom Kalstrup sent me a pic of his about two month year old, and Waverly Arna Dory Kalstrup is a cutie with alot of hair, maybe more then her dad does.

I have come to the conclusion that i am just going to have fun this year. I am going to ride my bike alot this winter and spring and hope that will make me strong enough to kick some ace. i think me and mag are going to do alot more MTB racing, cause that is what she likes and have fun. Mag said she might even race Cheq. next year, if i can get her in. Any ways seeing how it has been in the 40s all week i am going out side to ride which is wierd for December 13th.

well my 10-12 weeks of indoor training has come. With having a week off from being sick, the trainer dosen't look so bad because i just want to do something. I know, as well as alot of people, you have to be really focued and determined to ride the trainer for any certain amount of time. I am going to ride as much as i can, when i am not in CO snowboarding or in Northern WI drinking wine.
I have been trying to think of my big overall goal for this up coming season. I am having a little trouble because after graduation i don't know where i will be living or if i will have a job or some sort of income, so that is sort of overtaking my goal planning for cycling. When i think of my goal for cycling all i can think of is being in a big break or just attacking the field and stay away. So i think my goal is just to be stronger and attack the field alot more to see if i can get something going. If this is a good goal i don't know. Knowing me i will just sit in and watch everything happen or go with a break that has no chance.

Being sick sucks

I have been sick for the last two days and running a fever in the 100s. Today i think i have kicked the fever but my throat is killing me. The doc has me on some meds so we will see what happens. I wasn't going to take time off the bike like i planned but it seems i am now. Any ways i wish were were getting all that snow that SE WI is going to be getting today/night. Sorry thats all i have for everyone i haven't been leading a very exciting life lately.

Thanksgiving

My thanksgiving was good. Alot of driving, just like everyone else. Didn't ride the whole time, but shot alot of trap. I think i ate more then i should have but its the off season right. Can't wait for this week, not. Any ways i don't have anything else just some pics from the awesome weekend.
